El Antropoceno es un concepto acuñado por el premio nobel, Paul Crutzen; como una nueva era geológica generada por la intensidad y extensión del impacto de los seres humanos sobre el planeta. Actualmente en discusión, el Antropoceno se plantea como una época posterior al Holoceno, caracterizado por cambios sociales y ambientales, noveles y globales, cuya complejidad no tiene análogo. Dentro de la comunidad científica, el concepto posee consenso y propuestas con evidencia que permiten definir e identificar el comienzo de esta nueva época con los ensayos nucleares en 1960.
